Here is Mr. Bill Healey article hot of the press:
We have had so many enquiries regarding Club Management Software systems that we decided to run this article to help those of you trying to make a buying decision. . .

A Few Issues to Consider When Selecting a Management System
It’s been over twenty years since the first software-based, desktop solutions were introduced to the golf industry. While significant advancements have been made in terms of available technology, surprisingly there is still no single system that has become an industry standard.

What follows is a short, concise summary of issues you should consider when reviewing software vendors. This rather short list is in no way exhaustive, but gives you an idea of what to dig into. Ensure that:

· The club has a clear indication of what they need out of a system. Create a list of functional requirements and verify that the system addresses your specific needs. Do your homework, as the research will pay off with a system that fits well with the facility’s requirements.
· The developer is financially viable. Over the course of the past twenty years there have been quite a few developers who have gone out of business here in Asia as well as in Europe and North America. It’s difficult to limp along with a non-supported product.
· The developer is committed to the Asian market. It won’t be a good investment if development and systems support for Asian-based users disappear.
· The developer’s system is based on new technology. This demonstrates the vendor’s commitment to their client-base. Old technology reflects a developer’s lack of long-term vision.
· The developer has an established support staff. Relying on a part-time support person is risky, as the user will receive occasional support. Generally the time you’ll be in critical need of support is when the part-time support person will be tied up on another task.
· The developer has a clientele, and allows you to contact current users of the system. Flashy sales-people can sell almost anything. In the end it’s the product and support that the club is purchasing. The best method of ensuring the system actually works is by verifying it with some users of the product.
