Jencess Shows Support for Tsunami Victims

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – January 6, 2005  Jencess Software & Technologies, Inc., the world wide leader in golf course management software, sent in a donation to the Unicef for the Ocean Earthquake Appeal Fund.

With Regional Distributors and golf courses around the world, all of the staff at Jencess wanted to show support for this tragic event affecting thousands of lives.  Kirk Jensen, President of Jencess, went on to say, “All of us at the Jencess corporate office and our international offices have been affected both directly and indirectly by this natural disaster.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the region and the thousands of people so tragically hit.  I encourage other companies around the globe to reach out and assist in this natural disaster.”

Of the more than 150,000 people killed in the tsunamis, 50,000 were children, according to estimates. It is said by relief workers that figure may be low. Left behind are thousands of stunned, grieving children. Care workers face the huge task of addressing the psychological and health problems wrought by the natural disaster.

The overriding health needs for the tsunami-affected region will be directed at the prevention and treatment of malaria, water-borne diseases (cholera, dysentery, diarrhoea), measles, tetanus, and acute respiratory diseases. Jencess’ donation will assist in providing basic drugs and supplies to cover over three million people including the 1.5 million children in the region.

All donations to the Indian Ocean Earthquake Appeal received by UNICEF before January 11, 2005 will be generously matched by the Canadian Government.
